Is zebra print too loud or is it a good way to describe someone’s personality? I thought about this today as I was actually getting dressed for work. Crazy concept right? Today I had a video conference call with an advertising agency so I needed to look somewhat presentable.
I love zebra print, leopard print and anything that screams fun but I wondered, “Will that help me or hurt me?”
So I got to thinking, another crazy concept I know. Do brands choose to work with you because of your personality or because you are a Mommy Blogger in general? Mallery’s Deals is more of the family friendly site that 99.9% of sites out there are and Horrible Housewife is really me without the f-bombs.
I would much rather work with fewer brands that get me than a bunch who lump me into the Mommy Blogger category. I am not one to be lumped and I decided to wear the zebra print. I guess it just falls into the 50/50 chance category of life, you either love me or hate me.
I showered, did my hair, put contacts in AND wore makeup just so that I could be dressed from the top up. It’s all business up above and a party down below.

When I first started blogging, I thought that I needed to keep it “professional” – which meant I was writing posts the way I’d written college papers… Well written, but plain, and boring. Little by little, as I let more of my personality into my writing, I saw much better engagement with my readers, more loyal followers – and I just plain had more fun
I say be true to you, but know that there’s a time and place for everything… Like, since my site is meant to be a place to showcase family-friendly brands and services, I don’t use my sailor language, or share ALL of my inappropriate humor, lol. Which is why I need to start a second site too – where I can be TOTALLY myself.
P.S. – I have almost exactly the same socks

I agree. I think the light finally ‘came on’ in my head and I realized it is OK to push a little.

I always want to stand out! That’s how people remember you! With so many food blogs out there, I am always afraid to be “another food blog”. I like zebra, by the way. As long as its not all over

I also decided to Stumble you in a “humor” category from now on…
