Yesterday tested my patience, or lack thereof, pretty hard. I have dubbed yesterday as ‘the day the house went cold’ and also the ‘official beginning of our eczema recovery journey‘. It was just a sucky day all around.
I started my day by walking down the stairs and with each creaky old step the temperature dropped. What the hell? It was like the freaking Arctic in my house; I half expected polar bears to come strolling out of the basement. I thought for sure Michael had taken his ‘cheapness‘ to the next level and turned the heat down without me knowing, he’s done it before so it wouldn’t surprise me. I was hot! (BA-dum-TSH!)
Me “The house is 63.5 degrees.”
So Michael and I spent the day the house went cold sitting in the recliner, under the blankets, watching cartoons. We even had matching red hoods on our head.
Go ahead and judge me for taking my kid to McDonald’s after his doctor appointment! Judge me like that asshole in line did. What the hell, let’s just say that I am the reason Michael is in the 100+ percentile, it probably is because of this little thing called genes. Before you cast that stone you better listen up, Michael CHOOSES to eat broccoli and green beans all by himself. When we go to Applebee’s he eats all of his broccoli before asking for his main course. He also eats artichokes and Brussel sprouts, but I digress.
The real reason we went to McDonald’s was to feed him and kill some time before we got back to the freezing house for nap time. We got home and he took a nap with his hood on and a giant blanket before going to see Aunt Rachael.
The heat was finally back at 7:31PM and by this point I was just annoyed with the whole day. It was too cold to type so I didn’t accomplish much of anything work related, I still had to cook dinner and load/run the dishwasher. My Horrible Husband wondered why I was cranky. Umm… Let’s see, you could have tried to leave work to fix the damn furnace, instead of letting the house get to 58 degrees!
So what was the problem with the furnace? It was just a blown fuse! Best-News-Ever!

I’m always silently judging you. Just so you know.
Well, actually, not silently. I’d tell you to your face.

Oh get over it! I feel like there is no shame in a Mickey D’s trip if your house is an ice cube. And I say that as the woman who is an organic vegetable buying nut bag. I’m fairly certain Michael will still turn out okay. And there is a big difference between being a Godzilla baby and a morbidly obese baby!

The guy in line was a prick! “You are introducing your baby to McDonald’s pretty early aren’t you?”

We had that happen last winter at the house we were renting at the time. Not a fun experience.

I don’t know why people judge others who feed their kid McDonald’s food…there’s honestly a lot worse stuff in the grocery store that you can cook at home. LOL! And that’s kind of hypocritical of the guy since he was eating that stuff, too, no? Wow.
Anyway, coldness with kids stinks so I full understand!!!!

Sorry you had to deal with a cold house all day, but I’m glad the heat is working again. Also, I’m sure I’d be hitting up McDonald’s now and then too if I had kids.

That stinks that all of that was caused by a fuse! However, it is also great that is was ONLY a fuse. Our AC messed up back in the summer when it was like 100freaking degrees outside. 90+ degrees in the house! Turns out the central air just needed to be cleaned – $20!!! Yay! But it was a week or two of suffering until we finally got someone to look at it – we were soooo dreading what they were going to say.

Well, at least it was a simple fix. I also don’t understand who a guy who was in line buying the same stuff as you could criticize you for it!! Ridiculous!!
