A Horrible Housewife tip- How to hit your blogging goals quicker

I don’t even know where to begin this post because I am that blown away with the support from everyone. I never dreamed I would hit my blogging goals so soon this year, let alone need to make a new blogging growth plan! I honestly thought I would meet my modest page view goal of 10,000/month by the end of my first year blogging (on this new site) and that would be it. I didn’t want to get my hopes up on some giant goal because there are SO MANY bloggers out there!

First world concerns about my blogging goals

  1. Are people going to read about my randomness?
  2. Are brands going to be OK with my extended posting timeline and rebellious ‘review’?

These are the things I worried worry about EVERY day! Is anyone going to come out and play with me, or am I going to play with myself outside of the bedroom? You can ask my amazingly supportive friend how freaked out I was the final day of January. It was all, “OMG, I haven’t posted in 2 days and I’m not going to hit my January goal. What am I going to do? OMG, that means I don’t get to buy myself a site design treat. OMG! OMG! OMG!” <~ Real freak out conversation.

Hitting your blogging goals with the help of Google Adwords

Blogging tip– Spend the time to research your keywords.

I am in no way some blogging genius. In fact, I am a teeny tiny fish in this giant ocean known as the blogosphere. All I know is that I’m having fun blogging for myself with some perks along the way. A big thing I have learned is to say no. Saying no to something is one of the hardest lessons I’ve ever had to learn in this PR driven world. One of my insane friends posted this quote and it really puts things into perspective about how I look at my new site.

You make something, and you really have fun with it, and you try to put emotion in it, and at the end of the day, you have no idea how the tide is going to fall. You don’t know if everyone’s going to like it, if everyone’s going to hate it, if it’s going to be like you’re a media darling, or all of a sudden you’re a sellout. You have no idea. -Regina Spektor

Hitting your blogging goals with the help of Pinterest and content

Blogging tip– PICTURES! Learn to use a camera! Learn to stage a picture! Learn to edit a picture! PICTURES!!! I can’t stress this enough. PICTURES!

I have nothing heartfelt to put under this bullet point because the pictures are going to make or break you if you write about most blogging topics out there. (Please note I said most, not all.) Do you know how I read any of my fellow bloggers’ sites? I scan down their post looking at their pictures before I even decide to read their masterpiece of a post. You don’t need a fancy camera or even Photoshop to get a good shot; it is so simple to adjust the white balance and the color levels of your pictures with (FREE) Pixlr. It’s so easy that this technology moron can do it.

How to hit your blogging goals using Twitter

Blogging tip– Twitter is not a one night stand type of relationship. Find the right hashtags and get your tweet on every day.

  1. I love you for helping me reach the blogging goals I had no idea existed inside of me.
  2. I love you for being a lurker.
  3. I love you for leaving a comment, giving me a social media share, clicking on a second page, and I love you for watching my ridiculous videos.
  4. I appreciate you more than you will ever know!

I hope you are having as much fun on this blogging journey as I am. Without you guys I wouldn’t have hit my blogging goals and would be talking to myself. Well… I have a few crazy perverts and the #purplearmy backing me up, but that’s somewhere around 6 people. :)

(Please note- I have reached my emotional allowance for this quarter. All of the remaining communications for 1Q13 will stem from my cold blood.)

I love your randomness. You’re like a train wreck and I can’t help but check back daily to see how many people you might offend with your wicked, wicked ways. I’m so proud of all that you have accomplished and you know me, I’m a stalker by nature, I’ll stalk by often.

I’ve been in the biggest blogging funk lately. I just feel overwhelmed because I know so little about “SEO” and “keywords” all the other technical stuff everyone talks about nonstop. My numbers are awful right now. I sometimes feel like just throwing in the towel but I keep plugging along. Thanks for sharing this post!

Very nice! Congrats on hitting your goals! I’m like you I love to browse through photos to decide what I’m going to read. I think many people are visual, especially with Pinterest doing so well these days. I keep working to improve my photography. I still have a ways to go, but I look back on my early photos and I’ve come a long way since then!

These are AWESOME tips! Thank you so much for sharing! I desperately need to get my picture on but it’s just not one of my talents. I’ve decided this is my year to develop what little talent I have to its maximum and liven up the look of my blog!

All great points, especially the pictures! Last year my husband got my a “grown-up” camera and I haven’t looked back. This year is about lighting and editing for me. Congrats on your great pageviews! That is my weakness. I am working on it, but there is so much involved… good content, good “pin-able” photos, relevance, promotion, etc. I love what I do, so I know I will get there. :)
