When you are pregnant there are a few things that become downright difficult to do yourself and painting your toenails happens to be one of those things! Don’t even get me started on shaving anything below your belly once you are 30+ weeks. Oh my goodness she is going to topple over!
There is just something about the cankles, your shoes not fitting, not being able to shave, paint your toes and just the sheer desire to get that baby out of your uterus that takes a toll on how you feel about yourself. After 30 weeks or so you don’t feel like you are glowing anymore… you feel like a cow! It might not seem like much but when your piggies are pretty, you feel pretty.
The best idea ever was to have a mini mani/pedi party for myself, my pregnant Sister (17 weeks) and my pregnant BFF (34/35 weeks). My Sister and I have a wedding, that she is in, in North Carolina this weekend so that means dresses, bathing suits and sandals! YAY! Cortney, my BFF, just picked all of the shellac from her toes and has her final baby shower this coming weekend so she needed a pedicure… BAD! I ran to Walgreens to get the goods since it is right around the corner from my house.
I sure did pull out all of the stops for these special women! I started with the Sally Hansen foot soak!
Then it was time for the pumice foot polish with the stone! This is my favorite step because it makes your feet nice and soft. I very well might do this to Michael’s feet before we leave because his feet are N-A-S-T-Y! The third step of the pedicure is the foot creme and those lucky she-devils got a little foot rub out of this mini spa day!
I am all about nontraditional gifts for my pregnant friends. I gave Cortney lactation cookies in a jar for her shower and told her that we she was done with her 3 showers I would go with her to exchange all of the useless and duplicate items and get her shower gift then. Why can’t people just follow a registry? We make them for a reason!
Good Gifts for a New Mom:
- Lactaction cookies
- Meals after the baby is born
- Help around the house
- Help making a homemade baby food stash
- Sleep… sleep and more sleep
When I was pregnant I asked one of my girlfriends, who just so happens to be Cortney, if she would paint my toes for me. She didn’t realize that I just wanted a polish and she scheduled me for a full blown pedicure! So $60 later I had some pretty toes. Needless to say, Michael was less than pleased with my pretty new piggies! This spa day cost me less than that and I will get plenty more than just 1 pedicure out of it!
These are my toes before my pedicure! There was no way I was going to go to North Carolina looking like this!
I even went as far as getting fake toe nails and I am so happy that I did! I love the look of pretty toe nails but mine leave a lot to be desired.
I even sassified, 100% made up word, my fingers with a zebra Salon effects! I am not sure how I feel about the Salon Effects since I just put them on but we will see if they really do last 10 days. I will be completely honest and tell you that I had to put a top coat on them because the edges on a few fingers were not staying down. I can’t paint my own nails to save my life so using the Salon Effects was really easy and they look nice.
I have a thumb nail that resembles a toe but I was able to put one on my thumb sideways and trim it that way. There is hope for us hammer thumb owners!
The magnetic nail color is AH-mazing! It is so cool and you have to try it! Make sure you shake your bottle and apply a nice thick second coat to use the magnet. I bought Cortney her very own bottle to take home as an added bonus to her pedicure day.
Just you wait for my big weight loss reveal later this week or early next week! I am so proud of myself!
