When your little sister springs an engagement on you, your first reaction is, “Ermahgerd, the little girl who used to steal my clothes is getting hitched! We’re gonna have a wedding! I get to plan a bridal shower! My sister is getting maaaarrrrieddddddd!”
And you start envisioning evenings full of pizza and planning. And the moment she finds ‘the dress’. And all of the excitement that comes with preparing to send her off.
And, if your sister is anything like mine, she loves a good cup of coffee. And the color green. And she can smash food like a champion.
So naturally, you start planning a coffee bridal shower.
PICK A CUP. FILL IT UP. LOVE IS SWEET. GRAB A TREAT.
Tip: You can scour your local thrift stores for cheap coffee mugs that fit your shower theme, or you can invest in cute wedding coffee mugs and send them with the bride to be once the coffee bridal shower is over. If you have ample time to plan, you can make your own coffee mugs with oil based markers and white coffee mugs.
Tip: The carafes I used for the shower were everything and more. I wanted something small-ish so I could serve more than one type of coffee without compromising the temperature of the coffee or the space on the table.
And what’s a coffee bridal shower without a variety of sweet things to put in the coffee? I used honey, chocolate syrup, caramel, and creamer. I had a bowl for sugar cubes, but forgot to pick them up.
*shrugs* Ya win some, ya lose some. No one cried over the lack of sugar cubes…
GREEN AND GOLD COFFEE BRIDAL SHOWER FOOD:
… because there was sugary goodness for days. I think I purchased every mini this or that at the store. It was glorious.
GREEN AND GOLD COFFEE BRIDAL SHOWER GAME:
Our family isn’t big on goofy shower games, so I kept things simple with a ‘guess how many beans’ activity. If you want to hand out prizes or trickets, there is always the fill out the envelope task.
GREEN AND GOLD COFFEE BRIDAL SHOWER GIFT TABLE:
We might not be big on games, but we are huge on wrapping presents. Beautiful presents are a labor of love and enhance the decor.
Note: Be on the lookout for another post featuring the gift baskets pictured above. Similar to the wine poem people gift to brides to be, I came up with a coffee themed poem to gift to women who don’t drink alcohol. It’s equally as adorable and useful, I promise.
GREEN AND GOLD COFFEE BRIDAL SHOWER DECORATIONS AND PARTY FAVOR:
In lieu of a table runner, I placed small cups full of coffee beans and tea lights down the center of the table, and each place setting included a coffee mug shower favor. The whole look came together beautifully. I couldn’t have asked for an easier shower theme.
Or a better opportunity to leave the kids with their dad and sip coffee with the ladies of our family.
