FROM DUMBPHONE TO SMARTPHONE

Collective Bias disclosure for switching from dumbphones to smartphones with Walmart Family Mobile #cbias #FamilyMobileSaves

I am so excited for my mom to ditch her dumbphone! Squeee, she is FINALLY getting a smartphone after many conversations like this!

Me- “Mom, c’mon, you have a daughter who is a blogger for her profession and you are using a dinosaur!”

Her- “My phone does what I need it to do.”

Me- Sigh…

I do get that she doesn’t use the interwebz as much as me but she sure does seem to like using features like the web and navigation!

The thing is, she isn’t alone in her lack of desire to ditch her cheap wireless plan for a phone and data plan. Let’s not forget that once you move past a dumbphone everyone thinks they can get ahold of your at all hours of the day. Case and point…

Oh there is a mobile icon next to her Facebook chat picture? I’m going to send her a message even though she should be in bed right now. She OBVIOUSLY will hear the notification and realize how incredibly important it is for her to see so and so’s latest update. I mean… hello… status update of the century!

I can assure you I have some friends who love to crash ‘special moments’ with notifications. Not me. I would never do that to my dearest friends!

Goodbye dumbphone!

So how did I convince her to ditch the dumbphone and join the world of smartphones? I pulled out my Walmart Family Mobile phone during our treatment and told her it was a whopping $40 a month for unlimited talk and text, with 2.5 GB of 3G data. If only I would have known that was the secret to getting rid of the dumbphone earlier!

Sigh.

Upgrading from a dumbphone to a smartphone and trying to find service with Walmart Family Mobile #FamilyMobileSaves #cbias

Yeah… so… why didn’t I switch to the Walmart Family Mobile plan? I get service (on the T-Mobile network) everywhere BUT my house! I know I don’t answer my phone, call people, respond to text messages, and don’t even waste your breath on a voicemail; but I was only able to make emergency calls in my house and that is bad news bears.

Why it is cost effective to swap a dumbphone for a smartphone with Walmart Family Mobile #FamilyMobileSaves #cbias

Even though we didn’t switch to a cheap wireless plan and save oodles, my mom is watching Michael while we are on the honeymoon we were originally saving for and this is sort of like paying the babysitter! At least that is how I justify it in my head.
