As a parent, how many times a day do you harp on your child because they haven’t used the bathroom in who knows how long? They know they need to go but hold it until it’s too late because they are so caught up in Tic-Tac-Toe, or they don’t even think about and it’s definitely too late.
I find myself saying, “Just try. If nothing comes out, then nothing comes out and you can go back to your game.” all-the-time. And we both know 99.9% of the time… they go. Toddler logic.
And then there is the whole ‘do as I say, not as I do’ parent logic.
If you follow me on Instagram, you know we took the family room down to the studs for a blitz renovation to be finished by Maverick’s birthday party. We’re in the zone and most of the time we don’t realize we’re hungry until one of us starts eating the cracker crumbs Maverick left behind.
The ones on the floor, not the mushy rejects. I don’t do mushy.
Until that one day, the hamsters spun the wheel hard enough for me to realize we need a grab and go lunch station. It isn’t a complicated concept, and I can make his and hers sandwiches with a package of Hillshire Farm® Turkey Breast Lunch Meat, but being able to graze is a tremendous help when there is never a good stopping point.
I make Michael a BBQ turkey and onion ring sandwich…
BBQ TURKEY AND ONION RING SANDWICH:
- Hillshire Farm® Turkey Breast Lunch Meat
- Pepperjack cheese
- BBQ sauce
- Onion ring
- French bread
… and I don’t try to reinvent the wheel with my classic turkey club sandwich. Easy enough and tasty to boot.
I add a little something to wet our whistles, and…
… I never forget extra onion rings, tots, and a treat. We don’t always eat the treats, but they’re available for anyone willing to pull down drywall.
And when there are leftovers from our grab and go lunch, I pack up the goods in the empty Hillshire Farm® Turkey Breast Lunch Meat containers. The empty containers are perfect for ready to eat fruit for the kids, on the go lunches, leftover cookies, and whatever else you have in your junk drawer.
Yes, I try to keep my junk drawer organized. It doesn’t always work but I try.
And since I have you on the horn, a little birdie told me Hillshire Farm® Turkey Breast Lunch Meat is back at Walmart, so you probably want to add it to your shopping list. Just a thought. I don’t know much about your shopping habits, but for those of you who also forget something every trip, it helps to write it down.
DO A GIRL A FAVOR AND PIN THIS GRAB AND GO LUNCH!
