Overnight my video game addict, iron pumping-a-holic, frugal beyond belief, ‘fat boy’ brother became a grownup. Cory matured into a manager of real life people, not just video game people! You know, the living, breathing type? Yes. That kind.
Fast forward to today and he now has a girl committed to spend the rest of her life with him, a man who loves Call of Duty as much as he loves cuddling with her. Not to mention, he bought a house. His very own house! And, get this… his committed darling lets him play video games IN THE LIVING ROOM! The living room!

Dude was over for Leah’s birthday party talking about his upcoming birthday and ended up getting talked into hosting his own birthday party so he could show off his new pad. Talk about the perfect opportunity for some quality ego stroking!
Me “I’ll bring the beer if I can stage everything for work!”
Cory’s house “Free beer? Uhh… chhhh-yeaaa!”
And my Budweiser Project 12 party was born.
PROJECT 12 BEECHWOOD BOCK CHEESE DIP
- 8oz cream cheese
- 8oz shredded cheddar cheese
- 2t mustard powder
- 1t Worcestershire sauce
- 1/2t pepper
- 1/2c (or more if you prefer a stronger beer taste) Beechwood Bock
- Mix the ingredients together in a food processor.
- 2T Beechwood Bock
- 1T sugar
- 1 1/4c pecans
- Heat the beer in a skillet until the sugar melt before tossing the pecans in and toasting them for 1-2 minutes.
- 1/4t red pepper flakes
- 1/2T cumin
- 1/4t salt
- 1T sugar
- Mix together in a bowl and coat the pecans before mixing the pecans into the cheese dip from step 1.
- I served this dip hot with mustard crackers, chili crackers, and traditional crackers to give people flavor options.
According to ‘the experts’, Beechwood Bock is best paired with chili, sweet potato, and spicy foods.
PROJECT 12 NORTH PACIFIC STYLE LAGER CHEESE DIP AND BEER BREAD
- 8oz cream cheese
- 8oz shredded cheddar cheese
- 1/2-1t garlic powder- depending on how much you like garlic.
- 1/2c North Pacific Style Lager
- Mix everything in a food processor and serve warm.
- I used a beer bread recipe that required 1 bottle of North Pacific Style Lager for the ‘mini cupcake’ bread muffins.
According to ‘the experts’, North Pacific Style Lager is best paired with garlic, fried chicken, cheddar, and curry.
PROJECT 12 VANILLA BOURBON CASK WHIPPED TOPPING PUMPKIN TREATS
- 30 (or so) prepared pastry cups
- 1 can pumpkin pie filling
- 1c heavy whipping cream (Or anything similar that would make a whipped topping.)
- 1oz Vanilla Bourbon Cask
- 1t vanilla
- Fill the cups with the pumpkin.
- Mix together the topping and put a dollop on the pumpkin treats.
According to ‘the experts’, Vanilla Bourbon Cask is best paired with bacon, cherry, maple, and pumpkin. According to Michael, it’s best served chilled.
So, which Project 12 beer won over the family? I’m going to give this one to the Vanilla Bourbon Cask, hands down. Everyone, old and young, enjoyed the Vanilla Bourbon Cask. With that said, Michael typically drinks his beer room temperature because he gets down on dark beers, and he said the cooler serving temperature does the brew good.
Honorable mention goes to the North Pacific Style Lager because it drew an ‘oh, that’s good’ out of my beer snob husband. Trust me when I say he is VERY particular when it comes to beer.
Oh, and the grub results? The beer cheese dips were beyond amazing. They were out of this world on the epic scale and have carved out a place in my party menu must haves. Nom-a-rific, fo’ sho!
